Hi Pat,

If you're going to build a FAQ article on this info, I recommend it contain ALL the 02 series distributor info. (I'm willing to help with that.)

If you do a search on the FAQ forum, you'll see I've responding for some time to dist questions like eaker02 is having, and others have had, and referencing the Bosch site files, and other source info, like the advance charts you've posted here, etc. I've got a whole folder on distributor info, OEM and replacement parts, points replacement options, advance curves, etc. that might be good to add in.

Let me know what you think.

Tom

yeah, sure go ahead my friend.

as long as the source of the info is absolutely right, like the one i gathered from the bosch web site and from owners manual reprint, go !!

dont post links as from time to time, they either stop to work or are no longer available...if you see what i mean...

Thanks, Pat.

Since this is a construction zone for the article, I'm not sure how it should work. Do you want me to just upload all the various things/files, then you'll (we'll?) sort it out and arrange it for the FAQ article creation and submittal?

I could also just email you my stuff, and you can choose what you'd like to use and post it. (I have ALL the Bosch Auto Trad files for every car in the 02 series already, BTW. I think I may have been the first one to post about that site when it appeared on the FAQ.)

From what I've seen, FAQ articles are kinda 'polished' writeups, some with tables of content and such.

I'm open as to what you'd like to do, since you took first initiative at thinking of creating the FAQ article. The one idea I'd offer is since this FAQ would be on just distributors, I was thinking of just transcribing the dist portion of the Bosch files into a single composite table/listing covering that info.

ps: if you'd line to discuss a plan offline. you can email me: bimmmer AT comcast DOT net

By strange circumstance my 76 2002 finds itself tonight minus a distributor and I would like some info with the deciding the best dist. to get. My 02 internals are stock,it has a Stahl header and Weber 38/38. I was running a tii mechanical adv.dist. What dist. part number should I search for?

Thanks,

John Hoffner

Tom

Did you ever post your distributor ID info, Tom? If so, where?

I've been working with a tech, testing and plotting curves of various 2002 distributors (including a NOS 002 unit) and the results - well - they're quite varied. I am compiling the info for later posting, but am interested in any/all info you can provide.

Munich. The cliché of the art collector as a withdrawn lone warrior needs redrawing. Since June 2008, the online platform Independent Collectors has been successfully connecting collectors of contemporary art. More than 1,500 collectors from 66 nations have already registered with the Internet community. With some 450 private exhibitions, most of them publicly accessible, it provides a unique look behind the scenes of a lot of collections. They make the website a worthwhile visit for all those passionate about contemporary art, and from now on, BMW is supporting Independent Collectors exclusively as the first “Global Partner”.

BMW recognizes in the members of Independent Collectors a new breed of art collectors who network with likeminded people, who are more interested in cooperation than in competition. The carmaker will support the online platform in the development of attractive content and its input starts as early as July 2009, with the launch of the short film series “Art Expeditions”. These movies, optimized for an online audience, feature the meetings of collectors and artists, who will present to each other their favourite art spots. The first shooting is currently being arranged and portrays the art scene of Berlin, hometown of Independent Collectors. And in the third quarter of 2009, the collectors’ initiative is planning a “Curated Show”, the first online exhibition worldwide to be assembled from the collections of dedicated collectors.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
