tii fuel pump options

Recommended Posts

Car will hesitate, mostly when warmed up. I have a thread going on this under "tii fuel pressure check".

I have not noticed any hesitation at all and and it runs good at any speed. (an interesting thing is that I have 2 fuel filters by mistake... I thought that there where no filter at all following the fuel line so I simply replaced the old pump with a new filter. After some weeks I needed to pull out the battery, and discovered that there actually where a filter installed under the battery so at present I do have two...)

I will check out your thread

how does the depth of the fuel pick up compare to a stock 02 pickup? the part numbers here match to the e30 325 pump. the e30 318is pump is part number

or

is the 318is pump mentioned as "the one to have" in other threads a deeper pickup? i am thinking not since all those e30's appear to use the same fuel tank part number.

so what is different about the e30 318is pump vs the e30 325 pump?

this is the e30 pre-pump....much shorter than 02 one.

Did we figure out which one was the one to have?  Any difference since it fits where the sender was and there is not baffle like the Tii pickup area is?  Does it go all the way to the bottom of the tank?  I am hating the loud buzz of the external pumps... I cannot even hear the exhaust!!!

I would only guess to say if you had a 2002 with carbs and a fuel regulator in the engine compartment lowering the pressure to (x) Psig, would it still work??? I would really welcome all of your comments.

Thank You in Advance !!!!

Alex

No.

Efi pumps have way to much pressure to regulate down to carb levels

Thank you for the reply mlytle. Question i was also thinking on doing a E30 S14 conversion if I can purchase one reasonably, would this setup work for that type of Efi system ??

pump on non-tii car should be wired to separate circuit with relay and fuse.

Anyone care to elaborate on this?  Here is what i have.  Doing an e36 m42 swap into my '76 2002 (non tii obviously).  There is no wiring loom that supports the e30 fuel pump that I am using.  I have the fuel pump relay that goes to the e36 harness and need to know how to hook this up.  I have the WD for both cars and understand them pretty well.  I have a relay and was going to use the same Jetta distribution block that ClayW used that has in line fuses incorporated in the dist block.   I just get real nervous "adding" a new circuit.

This might help those that are running EFI in cars that aren't tii.

Thanks,

Jason

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
