Hold Sunday, 21 October 2007, for the Fall Meet. Plans are shaping up for a day of BMW cruising and talking cars - old and new.

What I know now is a morning cruise from Wolf Trap National Park, in Vienna, VA, to Passport BMW in Marlow Heights, MD, with a day looking around at Passports new BMWs will soon be on the NCC calendar of events. More activities will be added to the day. There are 150 spots available for the Fall Meet so stay tuned to the NCC website for an official announcement of the event.

To attend this event, BMWCCA membership is NOT required. Come out and have some fun driving and talking to owners of new and vintage cars.

This is fantastic news! A local event. Look for me in the saphirblau e21 or the 73 sahara 02 that I picked up this AM (if I can have her up and running properly by then).

Thanks for the link, Brad. Truth be told, however, I wish that you'd revive Herndon. We all had fun last year, remember? Especially Wegweiser, who came in costume. The First Annual CarPool Fruit-of-the-Loom fashion show was a winner, too. Personally, however, I'm still a bit embarassed about that thing with the zebra. Sorry -- my bad.

You should have received email confirmation. Email aespirit2@gmail.com if you did not.

The way I understand it, you have to go to Wolf Trap to "check in" before you can go to Passport, as parking at Passport is apparently tight.

once we got close to 100 cars out of the Wolf Trap Farm Park lot and the adjacent community and onto the roads.

The E90s dominated, but it was a great chance to catch up with new and old acquaintances and their rides.

Thanks to all those who came out, and especially the organizers that got this thing off the ground!

John -- Sorry I missed it. Gertrude had a flat tire, which I only discovered on Sunday morning, and we spent 4 hours pulling her out of the mud. As you can imagine, pulling her out and changing an 8-lug tire on a skid steer is not exactly a five-minute job. It took 5 1/2 hours to get her out, get her to the top of the hill, and then hoist her up (by her bucket) to get the tire off -- then another hour to fix the flat. She's back in business now, but I'm afraid that she caused me to miss the drive. We even had Otis out, and all ready to go. Perhaps Gertrude saw that, and simply wanted some attention.

Did anyone take any pictures (stated differently -- was Spongebob there)?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
