What's it worth??

I have had a 1972 tii for 12 years now, I paid $3850 for it in 95 with a rebuilt engine and a new paint job.Since I always had a 2002 for a beater it was always a 2nd car and never got much use.

Eight years ago it was replaced in the garage by a 72 3.0CS and now has been sitting in the Colorado sun and the the Cirrhus Blue color has faded.Daily car is a 93 525i.

So, no rust, engine runs fine, passes smog every year, no major dents, worn leather Recaro's, chrome is very good, lifetime Koni's worn interior, usual 2nd gear synchro munchies and 2 cracks in the dash.

Fellow knocked on my door today asking if it was for sale, I said I was thinking about it.

What to ask ???

Thanks,

Jim

sell it to me for the original $3850 :)

72tii - very desirable year to own and interest in Tii's has gone up quite a bit. Of course, condition and finish are everything but cars in the condition you described (no rust and running fine) are averaging $4k - $7k respectively.

Other factors contribute to price such as "snorkel free" noses, desirable upgrades, etc.

Either way if you decide to sell you will most likely make back all the money you put into it. Great isn't it? You buy a car, put a bunch of money into it, enjoy it for 10+ years and then sell it for double what you paid? :)
