Massive rear brakes - update on GB

Hi everyone

You guys have no idea how fun it is to solve problems on which many have given up. This race rear kit will be gorgious. I am also working at the same time on a front e30 kit with narrower discs, as well as more affordable versions fo the front and rear e30 m3 kits (with Superlite forged calipers). As well as a rear kit for all regular e30s and two front kits for the e24/e28.

I never thought 5 years ago, when I started making kits on demand for a few of you guys, that it would become this big. And I do not have a website yet but I currently receive half a dozen of requests for info per day, resulting in 4 or 5 sales per week. Massive is turning into a full fledge corporation next week. I will have some stuff in Grassroots Motorsport in two months...

From being a creative in advertzing to designing, testing and distributing brake kits for BMWs, the step is not that big. In both cases, it is all about finding solutions to whatever problem I face. and I do not have to deal with frustrated account execs, clueless junior writers or creative directors... I can finally achieve my dream: live at the track.

Hi again.

Just a little note about payments. Please pay all parts in cdn currency at the daily rate if paying thru Paypal. Per exemple today it is 1.16$cdn for $1$us. All checks in US currency are okay. If you have already bought from me before, I will take your personal checks with pleasure. If it is your first time, then I will only accept Paypal and I will absorb the 4% fee.

Whatever the way you already paid is fine with me.

No pics until the project is done.

For the rear kit, I suggest to use the Billet NDL caliper because it is easier to fit with its smaller size. If building a full race car and wheel clearance is not a problem, then go with Superlite caliper and small pistons.

BTW The Billet NDL is used in the back by "modified" dirt racers with 2500-2800lbs car and 800HP. So, they may not be that bad...

This NDL caliper can also be used upfront if full stiffness is not abisolutely required, but that clearance is a problem. Because this caliper is 5mm narrower, it makes fitting with most 15" wheels a possibility...

Slow down Lee,you're missing the question.Superlite or NDL makes no difference.I must have an ebrake to pass inspection.Check previous post again.I can't put my car on the road without it.Germany is a little different than the US and Canada.Just want to make sure I don't have to buy stuff twice.

Will Superlites in the rear fit with the usual kosei's or team dynamics wheels?

Superlites will fit with Team Dynamics, not 100% sure for the Kosei. Please allow me a few days to check out.

Lee,

Inspired by your Massive Brakes for the front, I fabbed up a bracket for the forged Billet Superlights in the rear. So far the bracket is in plywood as I wait to mill it out in aluminum. On my car the 15" kosei's clear the calipers in this configuration, which is probably similar to your setup. I bought a set of the Wilwood cable-actuated spot calipers to use as e-brakes. They don't list them on their website, but are available if you call them.

Great job with the "People's Brake Company" (ie Massive). Nice design, nice prices.

Best,

Hi Ian

I am doing about the same design, but not using plywood. He, he.

Just kidding. The caliper is about in the same angle. I fabricated two sets with different angles to clear the shocks. I may even supply two thick spacers for those who want to move the lower shock mount inward. I am moving the caliper as much inward as possible too, which is about 8mm. This will give more clearance. I also am testing Superlite and NDL calipers for added clearance.

Hey, plywood is my secret anti-rust formulation! I agree with moving the brake package inboard as much as possible. I used shallow hats, I think they were only 1" deep, and centered the calipers over the rotor, which pushed the calipers inboard. I hadn't thought about moving the shock mount inboard, that's a nice idea.

I prefer stainless steel (and it doesn't rust either). Pictures do not depict the final offset. BTW The Superlite caliper can also replace this Dynalite. Same mounting specs.

Hats are currently being machined at the CNC shop.

So far the list on interested parties goes like that. I currently ordered 10 sets for this first batch. The CNC shop is currently producing 4 other projects for me. Small batches of 20 units each time. Most of the stuff is already sold before it reaches me. But I prefer to make small batches for now.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
