the 1st thing i'd look at is points...i'd try filing them with an emery board fingernail file 1st before i upgraded to electronics, if mine sat for a long time in the humid conditions around here the points would go south

you can visually see if it's a fuel delivery problem...if you're getting gas in the carb, it's probably not firing because of bad points

I don't know how much you cranked it over, but, during the 3 mos., the gas in the float bowl probably evaporated (or most of it anyway) and you'll need to turn it over enough to refill the bowl. Remove the air cleaner lid and see if the carb throats look wet w/ gas. Our cars don't like to sit unused for long periods of time. You may have overdone it w/the gas pedal and flooded it as another possibility. I've got a ' 74, a ' 75, and a '76 and know they like to be run regularly. Another thing I've done over the years is pull a plug. If it's wet w/ gas, dry it throughly, and repeat w/ the other 3 plugs. Then it may start. Don't pump the gas pedal. Just leave it depressed to the floor til you get it to fire. Good luck.

To run, an engine needs gas, air, spark and compression--all at the correct time. We'll presume that you have good compression (the engine ran 3 months ago) and that you've checked your air cleaner to make sure squirrels or mice haven't packed it full of nest or walnuts. We'll also presume that your ignition or valve timing hasn't magically reset itself. That leaves fuel and spark.

Check for spark by pulling a spark plug, reconnecting it to its terminal and then lay it on the valve cover so it's grounded. Then have someone crank the engine while you watch the plug. You should see a big fat blue spark at the business end of the plug. No sparkee, no startee. I'd suspect points or corrosion/moisture inside the dizzy cap.

If you have spark, then take the air cleaner cover off and look down the carb throat while you manually work the accelerator linkage. You should see a squirt of fuel from the accelerator pump nozzle that pokes out into the primary barrel. If you don't see fuel, take a can of starter fluid (ether) and squirt it down the carb throat (throttle open). Then try starting. If it starts and runs for a few seconds, that'll confirm your ignition is OK. Repeat the ether trick a few times--it takes awhile for the fuel pump to pull fuel from the rear-mounted gas tank up to the carb.

If you can't get it to run except on ether, disconnect the outlet hose from the fuel pump and place a rag or a jar over the fuel pump outlet nipple (to catch gas). Have someone briefly crank the engine over and observe. You should see a couple of healthy squirts of gas. That'll confirm the fuel pump is OK. No gas? then you'll have to troubleshoot the fuel lines to make sure they're clear. The quick and dirty way is to disconnect the fuel line at the inlet side of the fuel pump, and blow into it while someone listens at the gas tank filler (remove cap) You should be able to blow bubbles in the gas tank. That'll confirm the line is clear. Resistance = a clogged fuel line, filter or the pickup in the tank.

If the line's clear and the pump still doesn't work, remove the pump from the car, connect a short hose onto the inlet nipple and dip hose end into a jar of gasoline or kerosene, then work the pump by hand. See if it works.

This will at least get you started. If you're still stuck, let us know what you've done and we'll go from there.

if all else fails, try some starter fluid!

spray some through the carb into the intake.

then crank. if it fires up even for a few seconds

that would suggest your getting spark.

then may focus on the carb/fuel sys.

i always keep a can in the car.
