Ludwig is 34 today--built 14 Dec 1972, one of the last 200

or so USA 2002s assembled in calendar year 1972 (last one was 2587309). At 208k miles, he's only been averaging 6100 miles/year.

With the nice mild weather in Ohio this week and last week's road salt washed off by this week's rain, I drove him to work today--that doesn't happen very often here, as we usually have salt/snow by now.

Happy Birthday Ludwig! Dieter got driven yesterday to the Cincinnati area BMWCCA meeting. Very friendly and hospitable group. Alec was recognized right off from his "Driving Light" photos from the trip to Lamborghini Ohio. I had the only 02 there, & it got a lot of notice. Met the Car Locators, Inc. brothers. They are young and full of energy, that's for sure!

Looks like Karl and Dieter have the same exact birthday then. {5-5-75} About a year or so ago, I found on Ebay the car with the very next VIN after mine. I messaged that owner to let him know. His was also a Sahara, non-sunroof '02.

No, mine's a four-speed. (& a LHD for the US market) They must have made them in batches for diff. markets.

Yeah. You know, I always thought Karl was converted to RHD backyard style. BMW didn't do a very good job in this case! But anyway, Karl just got his $650 trip to the body shop for xmas, I might do the engine rebuild for his birthday. Cars need to be spoiled too, don't forget Ludwig!

Happy birthday to Ludwig, and atleast I wasn't the only one in ohio driving my 02 the last couple of days. They haven't salted the roads yet in my hometown, so I'm free to go within a couple miles of my house.
