Ok,

first, Derek Scott's Florida 1600:

Next, An example of Tampico on an early 1600. You won't find this on many later (post 71) 02's:

Mike Self's Nevada 02:

Turf - never seen one in person so no photos taken.

Tampico and Nevada are VERY similar in color. Both are really nice in my opinion.

were not available after about 1969-70. While the photos show Tampico and Nevada as similar colors, they're not. I think Tampico is a lighter shade than Nevada.

Nevada was still available in 1972, although I've only seen one '72 (a tii) painted that color.

And gee, Wolfgang's famous on the board (that's my Nevada '69--obviously from the 2004 Vintage in the Vineyard.)

cheers

Mike S is correct, of course.

Nevada is a tad more brown. Tampico is a bit more on the grey side.

Florida does have a "minty" tint to it. Lighting during these pics and your monitors may make the colors vary a bit.

Check out my colors guide (I think the FAQ has one too though) on my old Tii site:

Mike S, yes that is VatV in 2004. I took that pic at our first V at V event. That event is featured on my www.midatlantik2002s.com site.

It is pastel greenish white. It is not like 1950s seafoam green. In some of the early german parts books it is called "seidengrun" - silk green. In bright light it looks white, in darker light it looks kinda greeny-purple.

Turf is a shade of green that looks like grass or pine trees. Lighter than agave or jade. It was also used on the NK and 2000cs. It looks good when polished.

If your life is dull, perhaps your car is too new and you're not driving far enough...

In response to Mike Woolridge's post above:

Ah, the New Mexico 02 with custom white leather interior.

Very nice indeed. Don't believe it is a factory 02 color though. Taiga would be the closest thing to that and Taiga is a lot more darker.

beautiful car though and whatever that color is is "period" correct...

available in Europe for the Euro ti's) and 185/70 x 13 Bridgestones, vintage 1990 or so...

Wolfgang and I thank you for the compliment--he looked pretty scroungy for 5-6 years while I slowly re-did the body. Got painted in 1999-2000 and has been a no-salt driver ever since--only fair since he had 30 years year round active duty in Ohio...
