re-threading tie rod studs (just did one)

OK, just puttin this in for future reference, since I couldn't find info on this with a search.

I recently messed up the threads a little on my fairly new center link. I think I torqued a nut on it too tight. I didn't want to spend 50 to 60 bucks on yet another center link, so I figured I'd just run a re-threader die over it real quick. But, my dad's huge 170-piece craftsman tap and die set didn't have that size in it. It's M10x1.00. It's a fine pitch and very hard to find. I checked with a couple parts stores and they'd have to order it in.

I ended up getting one from McMaster-Carr for 10 bucks plus shipping. It worked fine.

But, if anyone ever needs it, just contact me (kfunk@hawaii.edu) and I'll mail it over and you can mail it back when you're done. It's tiny, and who knows if I'll ever need it again. It's much easier than replacing a whole tie rod for a couple little messed up threads.
