E30 electric window followup--I LOVE THIS BOARD!

Success!! Several of you recommended whacking the motor with a mallet while pressing the down button. I tried it, and after several whacks it started working...reluctantly at first, so I did a little track lubricating and it got better and better.

Not quite confident enough to replace the door upholstery panel yet, but with snow coming tomorrow I'll be driving the E30 to save Ludwig from the salt, so I'll find out. And I'll put a little more white grease on the tracks to limber things up.

Thanks again for all your help--you saved me several hours that I can now devote to the '02--where I should be spending my time in the first place.

"Percussive maintenance" worked on my dying fuel pump somewhere in Utah a couple months back.

Will work on your Bugeye (Frogeye) Sprite, too!

Isn't that why British cars came with knock-off hubs? A "BFH" is standard in the tool kit.

Salt on the roads?

I seem to remember something about that phenomenon...
