engine and drivetrain Starting problem with a 72 tii, possibly fuel issue

I'm having a problem getting my 72 tii started after it had been running fine. The whirr sound you get on a tii in the start mode has stopped. this happened right after it had normally started 10 minutes before. Sorry for the inept description. The engine cranks and the battery is new and was runnning just prior so I believe it to be a fuel issue. What can I do to trouble shoot the k fischer or other fuel supply issues?

If the whirr you're reffering to is the fuel pump, first check the fuse and the contacts to the fuse(make sure they're clean). If the pump is still inop. then check for power at the relay and check it for proper functioning.

the buzzing sound is your electrical fuel pump in the back (rt side in front of the fuel tank), this pump supplies fuel to the injection pump. It could be as simple as a bad fuse (time to get all new ones), or you could look at the ground located in the trunk, particularly mounted on the divider stiffener between the gas tank and the spare tire well.

You could also direct hot wire the pump to see if it is the pump.

Secondly, if you have a bad pump, I know there is a cheaper replacement with one made for a later model BMW. Repost and someone will know.

There are used fuel pumps around, I bought a low hours unit for a spare last year.

Also Mesa performance has rebuilds for a decent price.

I think a '75-'76 530i is the same as a tii pump, at least its listed as such on the Mesa site.
