HELP! Is this a tii manifold????

Personally, I'm convinced that the 'good' 'tii' manifold is really just the latest non- emissions beefed- up manifold that BMW developed to deal with the cracking problems that the early non- emissions manifold had.

If there's a real difference in size, it's the sort of thing you could only tell by making a mold of the passages... and that sounds like a job for a quiet evening this winter- supposedly, I have one on the '74 tii motor...

More on this as I get to it...

well i decided to just put the thing on, since my old one was such crap

the bmw part number on the tag was correct, so i think this one is what it's supposed to be

it was really easy to remove/install- i think part of that has to do with possibly putting anti-seize on the studs when i did my engine rebuild last year

The short answer is YES.

Long answer... Early tii exhaust manifolds have less webbing than the new castings. They were prone to cracking. The tii manifold ha s the same size ports as other '02 manifolds, the difference being that the tii had no exhaust emissions equipment to block the path of escaping air.

The '74 2002 exh manifold flows pretty well for that reason. They only have an EGR exit port, not the air inj tubes as most other years do.

If you haven't installed it yet I would take a grinder to the ports and match the gasket holes.
