Is it ok to use all stainless steel nuts and bolts for an 2002?

no its not. at least not the high demand fasteners such as 10.9 etc. stainless can be used on most the other areas. im using quite a bit of stainless on common areas that dont require high loads or whatever youd call it. dont quote me but i believe most stainless is right between grade 5 and grade 8 bolts on the american scale.

I agree with Blunt, do not use Stainless where strength is required. Stainless actually comes in at the high end between grade 2 (regular hardware) and grade 5. For all things structural use metric grade 10 or above. Once you start using the higher grades of hardware you have to use the higher grade nuts also, for instance, if you use grade 5 bolts you can use regular nuts but if you go to grade 8 you must use grade 8 nuts. This is why the thread sizes are generally different.

I would generally say that anything that is torqued at less than 20 ft/lbs is not high load so you should be fine on the water pump.
