Anyone have experience with the Chinese inverter Tig welders

Inverter technology is being used by the 'name' brands, the import units are reasonably priced ~$1400 and about the same price as a good-used rectifier models.

It would sure be nice to have a welder that I could move (a Miller 180 SD tips in about 300 lbs!!)

Am I looking for too good of a deal?? Any welding pro's out there that have tried the new stuff?

Thanks!!

Who makes these "Chinese" inverter TIG's?...

I have one of those "import" TIG welders.. a Thermal-Arc TA-185 thats made in Japan, and am very satistfied with it. I got it about 2 years ago when they were going for $1700 w/accessories. Now, I've seen the price go UP and the same one going for $2100 now. Yeah, the Dynasty 200DX is a real sweet inverter TIG too!

Wenzhou Chiry Welding & Cutting Equipment Co., Ltd

Here is a link: http://chiry.en.alibaba.com/product/50231531/51237404/Inverter_AC_DC_TIG_Welding_Machines/Inverter_AC_DC_TIG_Welding_Machine.html

A person in the Bay Area is selling them for $1400

It doesn't seem like one of those "too good to be true" things, and $1400 is a big enough hunk of cash to me to be a significant purchase.

Still having something that doesn't weigh 300 lbs would be really cool.

Thanks!

Ten years from now, when the semi-consumable parts start wearing out or a board fries, where the hell is somebody gonna find replacement parts for a unit from Chin Chopsu Welder and Hairdryer Enterprises Ltd?

I just bought a 20-year old American made MIG unit, and I was able to to get the parts I needed IN STOCK from the local welding supply shop.
