Just wondering if there are any turbo'd s14's in 2002's anywhere. Ive seen the Laupa racing drag car but havnt seen one that is streetable so to speak.

Anyone attempted it? Would love to find out some info.

Thanks in advance...

Cheers,

Tom

I'd love to see one too - how deep are your pockets? If you could find a way to mate a turbo s14 up to a Porsche style transaxle rear end - you'd have quite the vehicle.

That would be a total custom S14 in terms of head and pistons - not cheap. I'd think that you could easily get some serious 500+ hp though. The NA guys get ~300 why not 5 with a turbo? (and a $25,000 motor)

Laupa racing and Virtala racing in Finland actually use an m10 block with an s14 head. There's the Swede who recently finished his twin turbo s14, but you could argue it's hardly even a 2002.

Wouldn't be too tricky, or as expensive as TJ Hooker just mentioned. You've probably seen Marty B's turbo m3 on s14.net - he did it pretty cheaply, although he had a lot of skills and access to machine tools that made a difference. He's also not running crazy high boost.

You thinking about doing it?

Don't worry I know all about the FRENCH.... I only cried for a little bit - but I'm ok now and I've been called worse.

What I want to know is how can you build a turbo on the cheap as Nick suggests? Can you just use a completely bone stock motor? Or stock with a thicker MLS head gasket and be done with it?

the s14 doesnt like to be turboed, basicly they will explode after 500 miles. Some I know are thinking but what about the old F1 engine it was derived from, well the block is different for starters (cyl walls have a taper in them). The last guys I know why tried to do it properly were the guys at bimmerworld. they never got the engines to hold togeather.

There's a 2.5 turbo s14 being put together by my mechanic here in Brisbane as we speak. This is the link to whats happened so far:

http://www.s14.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20589

Its not a 2002, but when you look at the parts he's got it's not a cheap exercise. The only original parts are the block and the head.

And I've just swapped my stock flywheel for his lightened one.

"Why is one of my reverse lights on in 4th?"

Thanks Sam,

When you say this, are you talking about with a bone stock motor, no (or little) reduced compression forged pistons, etc?

Cheers,

Tom (who probably didnt need to make 3 posts in a row. Sorry steve :-D!)
