I woudn't make them any wider than 8 inches total. That, I think as I sip my coffe, would make them close to 0 on the offset. Then you could "donate" them to me:) I'm sorta looking for a set of 15s that I could run a set of 225/50/15s on so I won't wear out my R compounds on my 13X8s every ten min. I think the main limitation is the tire touching the strut or the swing arm in the rear. Pluss there is the rubbing of the front valence when you turn the wheel to just before full lock. With my 13X8s and 235/45/13 Kuhmos and 5mm offset, I dont rub anywhere.I know you hate spacers, but I think up to a 20mm spacer is ok as long as the studs are long enough and good quality like the ARP ones I have.I would never use the kind that bolt on and have their own studs. Doesn't H&R make some hub centric spacers for the E21?

If you want to go with a 15x7 ET 12 is perfect to fill out the flares. As Harv mentioned with a 15x8 ET 0 is what you are going to need, but I don't know how much space you are going to end up with between the sidewall and the flare if lowered. If you go any higher I think you may have some clearance issues with the strut.

I was sthinking about running 15x8 in the front with the my Zender box flares, but still have to make a lot more measurement before I can even begin to see if they will fit under there.

the suspension on the inside, 15x7 et35 / 205/50x15 leaves no more than a few mm of clearance at the trailing arm and 15x6 et30 / 195/50x15 has about the same clearance to the strut - info from installing BBS RA one piece wheels to a stock-body (no flares) '70 roundie.

With flares you'll obviously have quite a bit more room to play with widths and offsets, but hopefully the above will help with a baseline for suspension clearance.
