It was raining and rush hr traffic, but the 72 left the garage and returned under its own power last night. And boys and girls...it was good. Al's seats are terrific! The temp gauge continues to be problematic but that is why I installed the VDO's and the oil temp was good in the 190 range and the infrared gun said all was ok. I'll keep it local for a few days til I get the new center bearing in and then I have to take it down to Matt's to see it old stable mate, the turbo! For now, I think I'll take my lovely, patient (way patient, that is) wife to breakfast in a lovely new 1972 Golf 2002!

Just passing on a possible cause for the gage reading being fluky. On ocasion the pc card in the unit can crack which makes the printed circuits on the card surface intermittent. "OO" welding cable grounding won't fix the problem and I did the only rational thing I put in an after maket pep boys gage that actually shows the temperature in degrees, What a concept.

Have fun

It has to be something like that. The sender is new, all the wiring in the car is new, all the ground wires are new and the gauge and sender check out. I've kinda taken it out of the scan. I'll pull the cluster this winter and put in a new one. Til then, it's good. Thanks for the lead!
