blasting media

Hey gang

Anybody know of a good blasting media for a pressure blaster? I'm trying to clean up my subframes, and I used aluminum oxide in my cheapo cabinet. Its a little too weak, but I wouldn't mind using it again-- where can I get it "off the shelf", or is there anything else that'll work similarly? I don't want to pay too much to ship it. Harbor Freight (yuck...)?

success with these pressure pots rests primarily on the dryness of the air supply and available air flow. i had to run two filters before getting semi decent flow. a warm low humidity day helps too.

as for material, i get mine at National Abrasives in san leandro 510/351-3163 it's about $25/50lb bag of glass beads.

ill concur on having dry material. i have a good sized cabinet and i use this stuff called black beauty in it. it works well for an all purpose kind of media. itll knock pretty heavy rust down. black beauty is supposed to be silica free but i believe theres a minute amount in it. be careful of your lungs and always use a respirator. and none of that cheap shit. get a good one. silica causes cancer or at least some messed up lungs.

read the label on whatever youre using.

My cabinet is bigger than yours!!

I have 8 bags of all sorts of stuff a tenant left in a rental home basement.

He used it for gravesite headstones.

There's silica, sand and all sorts of stuff.

I never wear a respirator
