early 2002/1600 mirror question (nt)

I think the flag style probably has the best visibility, seems to be a bit larger, mirror-wise, than the trapezoid and the prior style, as you have pictured and most 2002 owners with parts probably have more of the later flag style in their parts collections if they have spare door mirrors., as the flag style is also used on early 320i's, Bavaria type BMW's, and some early E-12's. There were actually 2 aftermarket black door mirrors on my 2000 when I bought it and I thought it would be neat to go to the original look, as the car is pretty much original ( factory wood steering wheel, steel wheels/hubcaps, Becker Europa radio ) and a fellow NK owner got the mirror for me on ebay.de, for $60.00, it's in new condition.

Some interesting mirror options can be found in www.automotion.com tel. number 1800-423-3173

site. Its a Porsche site but they feature a "speedster"style mirror that is close as well as some early 911 mirrors that look close to our chrome/stainless flag style.

Hope this helps someone in mirror quest land.

I did notice that the arm rotates and that the mirror could be flipped around. It just seems that the mirror doesn't turn far enough to look into the blindspot. The pass side has to turn further than the driver's side. Am I wrong? Do you have mirrors mounted this way on your car?

do you by any chance have some pics that you are willing to share? I am also wondering about mounting position on the door. On the 1600 mirrors were mounted on the extreme leading edge of the drivers door, but I have also seen them mounted higher and closer to the end of the vent window.

you could either post the pics here or send them to my email -

thanks
