Tii ebay

what makes it a tii.

Is it that the factory was able to stamp the vin 276 or 278? We all know how Mobile Tradition "made" a tii recently. So, is it more legitimate just because MT did it? (here I am not sure what chassis they used but let's assume they didn't use a tii one)

If this 76 tii does have all tii components, then why shouldn't be called a tii? Maybe it wasn't "born" one, but is it not one now? The other side of the argument is: do you have to be born one to be called one?. It is almost a non-argueable point, highly subjective.

These philosophical questions really intrigues me, some people know the answer to these questions, I am sure...

Back to the car... it is really a nice tii...conversion.

very interesting. There's a link at the bottom of the add for a BMW VIN Decoder. When you do as suggested, input the VIN into the website, it does not come back as a tii. I tried it with my VIN, and it correctly identifies mine as a tii. I did the same with Realoem, same thing. If the PO modified the car to tii spec, hat's off, seems like he did a hell of a job! Nice car!

as far as i'm concerned, MT can designate their newly created car a 'tii' because they are the creators of it in the first place and it conforms to the tii spec.

however, the rest of us can only designate a similar creation as a clone regardless of how thorough the job is.

assigning 'value' to such differences is a personal decision and is as much subjective as deciding if an artist's print/poster is as valuable as the hand-painted original. in this instance, they would both emote a similar response upon viewing (well, maybe not, the sense of presence of the artists touch would lack from the copy).

I have a car that is a something... not tii, not carb, who knows - problem is when I call it a tii you guys say the same things! I own a 76 (will have to search the archives for the VIN as I don't have it off hand) but it is in the same exact condition as it was sold in Germany, in late 1977 or early 1978 - new. From the research I have done (still have a LOT more to do), it may have been modified at the dealer with E21 m10 parts before it was ever sold, started, driven, etc. - so it IS "all orig" from BMW, whether it be the factory or the dealership I just don't know. It's got a tii intake, not like the cast alum. e21 intake, but it's also missing the K-fish and has something that more resembles the e21's EFI - but having owned an e21 it's not the e21 standard injection either. It's an odd duck having lots of dealer-available aftermarket performance upgrades and maybe some will remember when my dad and I took it to Lime Rock a few years ago (10 years now)... we were harassed so badly that we packed up and left!!!

This ebay car may be a little different as it looks like a US spec car so for DOT/customs and whatever other rules it probably came into the country as a non-tii car. Also at that time couldn't you have ordered almost anything you wanted in a car - even if it was non-factory the dealership would have and could have done almost anything to a car right???

Not that I'm anyone but unless this guy is trying to scam it could just be an honest mistake, or it could be legit.
