Bushing selection for race-only application

Todd's car needs a suspension overhaul this winter. Tring to decide whether or not to go solid aluminum/delrin suspension or stick with urethane. How about motor and trans mounts? it's got a CR box with a 4-bolt giubo. Should we get a 3-bolt setup or will the 4-bolt be OK?

Also how are the "crappy" window gaskets? The car has no door seals so is there a point in spending the big $ for the BMW seals if it doesn't really matter?

Thanks,

TJW

I'm also looking for cheap window gaskets...

What bushings are you running? I have a feeling that urethane is the way to go but on my street car I can already tell that the urethane is developing a memory. Is solid too harsh?

I've been leery of the aluminum- that's a LOT of stress to put into some pretty 'soft' mounts on the rear subframe-

all 4 of my 'ears' had cracks in 'em at the end of last season.

In front, the rods don't line up perfectly either-

so I guess I'd say to stay urethane or go to spherical bearings.

Spherical meaning heim & rose joints - LOL... do you think cause i'm asking questions like this I could afford to actually ACT on them! I'm not sure what class Todd plans on running in but are you allowed to strengthen the mounting points? Maybe not modify so much as to strengthen to avoid catastrophic failure? No one's looking to cheat by doing something that's not legal - and I know very little about actual racing (incase you couldn't figure that out). Todd does know quite a bit but he's got those Triumph TR8's so I'm the BMW guy... trying to pick up a thing or two about racing. Can we stiffen the front subframe where the arms mount? Can the mounting holes be relocated upwards? Getting off subject - it's a no-go on the spherical joints unless you're donating them Toby. Guess we'll stick to the urethane all around. What about Delrin or UHMD plastics? (ultra high molecular density)

Thanks for the answers!

Oh this is Todd's car. Motor was built by Kermit Upton at MASR. Some of you guys probably know the PO (he may have passed away). He also had a green 76 with 40 DCOE's. The white car's got a CR box, some type of LSD (leaves two strips) and has fiberglass hood & decklid.
