74 tii w/ no charge light

Tried all the stuff on the faq, still no luck.

No "L" light when ignition is turned on. Have power to blue lead (12 oclock) on the 12 pin connector at the guage group, when Key is in "on" position.

Continuity ok from soldered side to bulb contact printed circuit through bulb. Bulb itself test ok, even switched the oil presure light into Alt. position.

B+ system seems to check out alright through out the circuit.

Problem started with flickering light and I decided to freshen up the chargeing system for winter.

Alternator removed and refreshed with new brgs/ brushes, installed and no dash light or chargeing system. Replaced voltage reg. with new spare and still no charge light.

Ideas.....

I had the same problem...I had 2 different shops check the alt. on my 74 Tii after having a local shop "rebuild" it. I purchased a rebuilt Bosche unit and it solved all my problems including the light on the dash!

What is your alternator output? Have you checked with a voltmeter?

Well looks like the alternator is comeing off again and going back to the shop. Had to run in the shop and pick up my good multi meter, it shows 12.2 volts at the battery....Running with lights on I find 11.9 on the B+ post of the alternator.

An interesting little note, the alternator has one post marked B+ and the other is marked b+, B+(marked twice). Wireing is hooked up to Single B+ post as is the little black goody on the rear of the alt.

Going to put the charger on it and retest later today.
