Has any one tried Ireland Engineering Big brakes for the standered 2002?

Do you feel a big differance?

Will they fit behind my 13 inch turbines?

Sounds like this is the standard Volvo/Girling upgrade kit that fits on standard 02 strut housings. They will fit under 13" turbines from an e21 but you'll have to grind out the mounting holes NOT THE CALIPERS.

Read what it says though in the description, you don't gain any larger rotor, they aren't bigger brakes, only a vented brake which equals a larger heat sync. They stop the same or slightly better than a new stock setup. Under extreme heavy braking they will out-perform stock setups only because of the ability to disburse heat, not larger area.

You will notice a nice difference if you upgrade to 250mm e21 rear drums and to the front upgrade as well. It's REALLY NICE - but so is a stock, properly adjusted, correctly fitted brake system. I upgraded to a tii MC at the same time too.

So yes they fit under e21 turbines, yes i felt a difference over my old crappy brakes with frozen pistons and yes it was worth it.

If I had to do it again I would have swapped over to single line front MC, done the brake booster delete sooner and used a single line caliper up front - only for simplicity of running the lines.

The 320i--I think--used the same size rotor as the '02 ti/tii, which was a bit bigger than the one used on single-carb '02s. And a friend of the family who has owned both a regular 2002 and a tii has told me that the brakes were really the biggest difference he noticed between the flavors of '02--at least until higher revs when the tii got in its power band.

Someone else probably has the rotor dimensions memorized...

What is your advice?

Speak to Jaymic - same lumps of metal, just not shipped half way round the world at your expense (plus import tax). The 5 series caliper on Tii struts won't fit under a standard 13 inch wheel.
