i hope they dont do the 2002 throwback. i hate that retro shit american carmakers are doing. id like a bare bones, no power anything crank up window,manual seat screamer though

modern '02 to carry the torch forward - a small, bare bones, manual everything, a/c optional rocket sure sounds like the spiritual successor to the '02, regardless of what it might look like....

agreed, i just am not a fan of the retro look.ie hhr,pt cruiser,mustang GT etc etc.

BMW's success with the Mini shows how a "retro" looking car with great driving characteristics can be a financial winner. BMW can't seem to make enough Mini's!

Having said that, its not critical for me to see BMW offer a retro-looking 2002 - I'd rather see BMW offer a car in the $25-35k range which continues the '02 virtues of being a quick and great handling car which could be "tuned" for more performance.
