How much should I pay for this?

I don't need all this stuff but I do need the manifold. If the other bidders/watchers are out there let me know and I'll back off (meaning I won't drive the price up on you)

I'm looking at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150044621411&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1

I have NO IDEA how much I should expect to pay for this... At the pick'n pull it was All-U can carry for $50 so I got that & a whole ton more. I can go back and get another for probably $50-$75 depending on how it looks. Will this go for over $100?

TIA,

TJW

as i recall, i spent about 40 bucks

Somehow I think this guy's gonna want more than $40 if he's charging $59.99 for shipping...

we'll see though - good thing ebay has buyer's reserve/max bids!

Where are you located? I have (or had) two 318i complete engines that were headed to the wrecking yard last time I saw them. I'm in Arlington, Washington. If you're anywhere near and want to come scavenge them, I'll check with the salvage guy and see if they're still available. If so you're welcome to have at them. Sorry, I don't have the time to pull parts even for my own needs. Email me at noelhiga@gmail.com if interested. Noel

I'm in Boston. No where near Arlington sorry. We'll see what happens this weekend but yeah I've screwed myself again - need/want (is there a difference) a manifold pretty bad. No offense to the seller because he took the time to take all that crap off the car but he's gonna rip off someone at $60 for shipping and $100+ for the part.

We'll see sometime tomorrow....

dude, just drive down to Hartford and pick it up, and you won't have to pay for shipping. It says so in his response to a question on that page.

You can get it for dirt cheap since you're close, and nobody else is gonna want to pay for shipping.

Tom, the junk yard in my town gets a few of these cars in. You can buy the whole car for $150.00 plus the price of the scrap weight. Take the car home and remove everything you want. When you are done, you return the car for scrap value. Last week I missed out on a complete 94 Range Rover with a 3.9 liter V8. It was gone when I went back the next day. My buddy just pulled out an 88 RX7 convertible with a recently rebuilt motor for under $300.00. He sold a few things on line and actually made $500.00 and got a boat load of parts.

U offering up your driveway for this endevour? We'll see how this auction ends up on ebay as everyting is there. If that doesn't work out I just need the manifold and will probably spend part of Saturday pulling another if one can be had for $30 or so.

.....this is a $50.00 pile-o- ???

but in the Auction world of eager bidders - could be $250.00 ???

all boils down to how much are you willing to pay.

RIP OFF SOMEONE???????

Yup and I already shipped it out to the winning bidder!

$60 outrageous for shipping? You would have driven down to Hartford from Boston to pick up this part? Thats a 240 mile round trip an average car costs about 31 cents a mile to run that equals $74.40 add tolls another $10 Plus drive time...whats minimum wage 7 bucks? So your gonna waste 4 hours driving assuming you didn't hit any traffic, at 7 bucks an hour thats another $28 add it all together, thats $112.40 you would have spent coming down here to pick up the part in person. $60 shipping vs $112.40 doing it your self mmmmmmmm I not a genius but the boys in brown seem to be the best deal in town. Sure you guys can go to a pick and pull and spend $40 get most of everything that was in my auction but remember that you are going to have to be outside in oil soaked dirt, what if you didnt bring the right tools? What happens if it starts raining? What if it is snowing out there? Pick and pulls are cheap because you provide the labor! Remember this auction was not just for the manifold it was for the entire fuel injection system fuel rails injectors pumps water inlet ecu harness etc..... from a running car! Yes I profited from the sale however isnt my labor worth something? Isnt the convinience of not searching junk yards and then getting down and dirty pulling the parts out worth something? The proceeds of this sale did go to support my BMW hobby. Going on e-bay finding a entire jetronic fuel injection system from a BMW 318i and not having to pull the parts yourself.......priceless! Besides I started the bidding @ 99 cents NO RESERVE. So am I a rip off con artist???????? I think not!

WHEN YOU GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING YOU GET NOTHING!

Happy motoring!

Daniel

whenever i sell something on ebay i always charge more for shipping than its going to cost me. it covers some of the final value fee and listing fee and people dont have to bid if they dont want to. i dont think its unfair at all. nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything. sales outside of ebay are always actual shipping

Please accept my appology. I didn't mean for it to come out like that and you are right about the costs. I didn't bid because of the shipping/time and fuel factor to come pick up. I know I can go back to the pick & pull Saturday and get what I need for under $40 plus about 3 hours of my time. You did get right back to me when I asked about picking up but you either didn't get my other questions or didn't answer them.

Again I didn't mean to offend like that - the part/s you offered were not what I wanted. I wanted the manifold only, no ECU, not any of the other stuff and becuase of it it was obviously worth that amount of money to several people as you had multiple bidders. Sorry again... i clearly put my foot in my mouth... again
