How to remove crank pulley while engine is in car??

Is this possible? I want to install EDIS and megasquirt... Just hoping that I can remove the pulley while the motor is in the car so this doesn't turn into a project that I fear.... I have a feeling that it may not be possible...

I've done it a number of times. Just have to remove the radiator and grills. I reached in from the front and got the puller on.

That sux... Not gonna do it then... Just out of curiosity how'd you get the nut undone/how and what did you lock up so the drivetrain wouldn't turn?

TIA,

TJW

(Just going to rebuild a motor I have laying around rather than try to "freshen" the one in the car. Not what I wanted to do but if I have to remove grills, radiator, etc. then it's easier to just do a return to stock rebuild on a motor I have already out & on a stand.)

put the car in 4th, pull the parking brake nice and snug,

and then see if you can de-nut it!

If you have the short pulley, then you probably don't HAVE to pull

the rad- but it's 4 bolts, so why not, and make your life easier?

What's half an hour, anyway?

Toby you hit the nail RIGHT ON THE HEAD... It's all about motivation & I'm one lazy bastard at times! Hey where might one be able to source a short non-cast pulley??? Also do you (or anyone) know if the Ford EDIS 36-1 wheel will fit on the short stamped pulley or only the cast one?

an Ingersoll Rand air impact is compact and 800 lbs. or a cordless Makita with 1100 lbs of torque, it's easy go to any store that carries these and buy it now and return it same day more like a tool rental. he,he, heh! that is if you don't want to shell out $300-500. winston pm me about those parts you were going to send me.
