Seattle Mechanic Recommendation

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a recommendation for a mechanic in Seattle to work on a 1972 tii. I am loaning my non-mechanically-inclined friends my car for a couple of years while I'm out of the country.

Searching the archives it appears that everyone is a Brian Capp fan. I have no doubt that he is great - in fact I took my car to him a couple of times when lived in Seattle - nice guy - very high quality work.

But I'm hoping to find someone a little bit closer to Seattle for routine maintenance (oil changes, timing, brake fluid, adjust valves). Right now it needs idle and A/F set - so the mechanic should know the basics of the k-fisher.

Any thoughts? Car Tender? Help!

I used stricly bmw once or twice. I liked the owner a bunch- easy to talk to and straight up. I dunno if it is in the same place as it was but it was just off the highway in bellvue so in non peak traffic times it wasn't so bad. This was back in 1995-9 when I was in the area. I did not hvae much work done by them but havein worked in an independent BMW shop in texas for a few years I had a good feeling about it. Clean well organized shop with non grumpy mechanics who were into racing bmws as well. Might be worth a visit?

Is there a Pacific Coast CC chapter or someone you could email at the BMWCC that would have a reccomendation? Just a thought...

Went to Strictly BMW a couple months ago for an estimate to replace the exhaust system on my tii.

Center and rear mufflers, hangers and labor.

They were very nice when they gave me the $1,100.00 estimate.

Then, I think I soiled myself.

If you're looking in Seattle proper try Car Tender on Cap Hill. Talk to Kevin York. I've had them work on my e28. My tii KF a/f work was done by Wes Ingram when he was in South Seattle, he's now up north in Burlington.

I've seen a couple tii s at Car Tender so they appear to know the basics. Don't know about their KF knowledge though.

Also for basic stuff you could try Chris Goodwin at Goodwin Motorsports on Cap Hill also. Heard from another tii owner that he did good on the basic stuff.

I've also found Strictly to be expensive. The dealers usally won't touch a tii.

here's the local Puget Sound CCA, www.bmwpugetsound.com, post the question and see what you get. Good luck

LOL!

Good, John!

Have you seen the convenient "Monday Night Football Package" that consists of a twelve pack of Budweiser and a box of Depends?

Available at Seven-Eleven, Circle K, etc.

:)

Car tender as others have mentioned is supposed to be pretty good. Personally Id rather drive a small distance from Seattle to North Bend to have my car worked on by someone who you KNOW will do good work, but thats just me. I guess its good to give other people a shot though if you are concerned about the driving.

Also Strictly has good employees ect, Ive only gone there for parts though!
