Dropping oil pan with motor in car...possible? (nt)

Yep, but you need to unbolt the oil pump to get it free. Jack the transmission slightly for a little more clearance if you want.

Or, you can lift the motor slightly using a chain and some 6x6s, as described in the FAQs. But I just took out the oil pump. The oil pump chain can just hang freely, and theres no need to mess with the timing chain.

hey shad,

you can do it, I used one of those engine lifts that straddles the fenders, loosened both engine mounts and dropped the pan without taking off the oil pump, be careful of the dizzy
