TDC Mark on Flywheel

I don't have a pressed in ball on my flywheel to denote top dead center. There is a little "O" stamped onto it. Piston one is up so I assume that mark confirms TDC. The piston should be just at the peak and starting the compression stroke, correct?

Trying to install my freshly rebuilt cylinder head.

Anything I should really pay attention to as far as lining things up?

Thanks!

the O is the top dead center mark, and the ball is the timing mark which I believe is 27 degrees before TDC. I paint the rim of my flywheel black and the reference marks white or red so my failing eyes can see them more clearly.
