pertronix differences

does anybody know the difference between a pretronix unit for a vacuum advance distributor versus a mechanical advance unit? i just got the bosch id48x(72 tii) distributor and installed the pretronix from my old(vacuum) distributor.

i believe that pertronix offers a different ignitor for each of these distributors. anyway, i put it in using the old pertronix and it runs, just not sure if it's right. any help is appreciated.
