Why not have a BMW collector-car store??

I have wondered about that for some time. I was told, it wouldn't make money, or it would detract from the attention the co. wants focused on their new cars, etc. >>>>Well, Mercedes-Benz has opened a collector-car store and service center in Irvine, CA. It sells only M-B cars older than 20 yrs. The facility also stocks M-B parts. Store Manager, Michael Kunz states: "If we don't have a part you need, we can make it because we have the blueprints to every part ever put on a Mercedes-Benz." Ferrari is also developing its own classics business. (I lifted all of this from a NEWSWEEK magazine dated 9-25-06 BTW) So, what do you all think? Is BMW going to launch such a business? Do you think that they should do it? Should they leave it to entrepreneurs outside of the co.?

I used to go to hardware stores thinking the exact same thing. Why isn't there a parts store for 2002's? In one sense, it would make my life so much easier, but on the other hand, I can only think of 4 other 2002's besides Karl that are in my area. So unless they charged $200 for a cap sticker, they'd go broke.

It would be nice though...
