Back to the throttle linkage

I seem to run out of pedal, in fact I know I'm not bringing the secondary in on the 32/36. Almost seems like to much carpet. What adjustments can be made to rectify this. I'm hoping to not have to pull the just installed and fastened carpet/pedal box cover but surely will if necessary. I don't see where that would do any good, at least as far as I understand the linkage. Ideas?

at the top where it joins the cross shaft that runs from the firewall to the carb. Have you made sure there's no lost motion there?

You can also lose some motion where the peg in the cross shaft connects with the slot on the linkage piece that's bolted to the carb itself.

To really check it, have someone gradually move the accelerator linkage at the carb end to full throttle (engine off, of course) while you observe the accelerator pedal's movement. If the pedal bottoms before the carb throats are fully open and the two adjustments above are good, then you're gonna have to adjust the clamp at the bottom of the vertical rod where it's fastened to the linkage that comes from the pedal. It's a lot easier to see than it is to try and describe...

I had the same problem when I bought my 73. It seemed REALLY slow on the top-end (60 mph max) compared with a 75 that I owned. Like a rookie fool I upgraded to a 38/38 to rectify the problem and when I was monkeying around with the install I found the lower linkage was way out of wack.

Needless to say it ran like a beast (comparitively) after the adjustment.
