Rear shock tower: patch vs. replace

I had a buddy who happens to be a body man patch mine. He did some cutting and formed some heavy sheet metal and welded it in. After grinding, applying rust inhibitor, etc., I primed the area. We'll spray rocker schutz on it and paint it in the next couple of weeks. Good as new (until the rust comes back).

the part visible from trunk or the brace/ support piece that the spring goes to? for the brace i just got a new oem one from jaymic, and took off the entire old one, and spot welded the new one on. for the in trunk part i just made one out of sheet metal(i bought one but i figured this to be easier) the most important thing is making sure its all in the same place as when you started which can be a bit nerve racking but its not that hard.
