Congratulations to Roy Hopkins and Adrienne Hughes for placing 5th in the 2006 Targa Newfoundland in their 1969 BMW 2002 (named "Woodstock")! They were one of the oldest cars in the field (although hardly stock). Complete results are at:

It was a pretty straightforward 2002 racecar, although everything was engineered very cleverly. The rollcage was particularly interesting, with everything triangulated. I've posted a few pics from one day when a few GVC members helped with assembly.

Many BMW Club people helped in the building of 'Woodstock' (it was already named and painted when it arrived from Southern California). Look for a Roundel Article in the coming months or a writeup I'll post to FAQ.

It has a 2.2 liter, dual webers, and puts out over 150hp to the wheels. Transmission is CR 320i 5 speed. It has coil over front struts, 530i brakes, Aardvark rear discs (Thanks Ian), Ireland motor mounts, stud kit, strut mounts, and rear camber/toe kit. Shocks are revalved Bilsteins.

We ran Toyo RA1 on 13x7 wheels and the grip was fantastic on the bad roads and in the rain. They even look ready to do the event again with minimal tread wear.

BMP Design supplied lots and lots of rebuild parts and the really great Supersprint Stainless header. They have some of these left and will probably not be getting another run of them anytime soon, give them a call. The nice part about the header is it gives broad torque band (4-2-1) and is a two piece design so the transmission can be pulled without taking it off the head. The car is a blast to drive. Targa Newfoundland is a fantastic event, 2002's can be very competative in it.
