Tii Headers

What kind of HP increase on my '74 Tii would I get with headers vs the stock manifold? I was given a set of (slightly rusty) 4 into 1 headers. Everything else is stock on my car (except for running a little higher compression).

It's not too hard to install them, but is it worth the trouble and are there any potential cracking/leaking problems that are common to M10 header swaps?

I don't know if you'll get any specific HP gain. Maybe a little. I put ireland step headers on my 74tii after I blew up my exaust and it *seems* a bit zippier -- hard to say.

I know it sounds a hell of a lot more beefy with the magnaflows and the step headers.

Going from 0 to sixty with the new exhaust is certainly a lot more exciting, even if you are going the same speed as before

tii manifolds are already better than stock. I would agree with -Z- and say that it would probably be negligable...

would sound faster though

i disagree. any time you can make your engine breathe better, especially on the exhaust side of the tii, its a good thing.

the tii manifold is not much better than a stock 02 manifold.

and the devil is in the details.

There is a bit of restriction in the 2002 exhaust ports,

but there is a TON of restriction in the tailpipe.

So if you upsize the whole exhaust, it'll make a real difference...

well, after you get a higher- lift cam in there, of course!

And get those 40 dcoe's on, too...
