models, as were electric sunroofs. I suspect the US cars with OEM leather were overseas delivery cars...and, there were the legendary "last 200" '76 2002s.

While I've never seen one, reliable sources say they exist. They were all Polaris with red leather interiors, alloy wheels and electric sunroofs. And they were the last 200 USA 2002s built. Anyone ever seen one?

Although I don't think it was one of the "special" cars. It was a 76 and was Polaris with red leather, but it did not some with an electric sunroof or alloy wheels. I bought it from the original owner and I think he told me that he had it special ordered this way.

mystery once and for all... they were written about in the Roundel several times, and I remember at least one showing up for sale in the Roundel classifieds back in the 80s...so I think they're more like a coelacanth than a bigfoot...

FYI

Last US manual = 2745584

2745581 = Fjord with Tan interior

2745534 = Sahara with Tan interior

Last US auto = 2393292

2393280 = Polaris with Blue interior

2393270 = Verona with Black interior

No red yet, but i'm still searching.

Maybe they were in the last 200 Euro models???

I've seen two cars here in the US with electric sunroofs and both were '76s. I also saw a factory electric sunroof roof on ebay that someone cut off of an 02. I have never seen leather, though it was an optional extra and may have come only in the euro spec cars. I believe one of the popular 2002 books (can't remember which one) has information about the leather interior in it.

my '75 *had* leather in it... I'm unclear as to whether or not it was factory, but it was very destroyed by the time I got to it.

Ive seen the exact same colours in Vinyl cars before (Navy blue with a Gray insert) but never Leather. My guess is that someone paid a mint back in the day to have a very nice re-upolstering job done.

Don't know when the began adding the brackets, but if you look under the headliners of at least the 72/73 or later cars, you'll see the brackets for the electric sunroof motor on any factory-equipped sunroof car.

And I think the US sales catalogs for the last cars (75-76) showed an electric sunroof as an option (this was after BMW NA took over distribution from Hoffman).

I have heard (but not confirmed) that the electric sunroof motor from a Bavaria/3.O sedan is the same and will fit...

Personally I don't mind cranking, just one less 'lectric thing to go wrong...

Interesting that this pic comes in handy once again. (Trap mirror) As I said the owners said it was original and thay had owned it since new. I think it was a 74.
