What not to do after you tune your 02...

So I finish tuning my 02 and quickly decide I can't wait until tomorrow to take a test drive. I usually don't drive too fast in or around town, but I was so excited after having my car run so poorly the last few weeks that I had to open it up. Well... not the best time to do that. I got clocked going 55 in a 35 and wouldn't you know it I got pulled over exactly one block away from my house. I wasn't all too concerned about the ticket but more so what my neighbors would think. It was 9:30PM so not too many people milling about, but still. At any rate, when I told the officer that I hadn't gotten my new insurance card, he said, "I have USAA too, I haven't gotten mine either." I had a lucky star on my side. He let me off!! I love USAA. So glad I didn't get a ticket. I mean who does? So the lesson here... when you think your safe to speed or whatever, make sure your radar detector is on! And now that money I would have spent on a ticket will go to buying a Valentine. Lesson learned.

They've done that for me several times when I've switched from summer to winter cars and didn't want to wait for the US Snail...

I have a similar story. All the same except I waited until the morning to test drive on the way to work. Just installed a new 38/38 and I wanted to see how it would do.

On the freeway on ramp I pinned the throttle from a dead stop and worked through all 4 and merged like a champ onto the freeway. Just about the time I was grinning with pride I notice a cop behind me with lights on.

Long story short - he dug the 73 and we chatted about cars for a while. He made me promise to do my "testing" at home and let me off with a warning.

Lucky day!

Any by the way. USAA is the best insurace ever. They make all other insurance companies look like mere mortals.

I'm looking at my USAA calendar right now.

Same thing happened to me once...

...Except I got flagged for driving a car without a hood or trunk lid. I was so excited the engine was finally running, I just hauled ass out of my neighborhood, and right in front of a GA State Patrol officer.

Once he noticed I didnt have any glass in the car, or seatbelts, gauges, lights, mirrors, and pretty much anything but an engine and wheels, he told me to go home. Too much writing for him to do in one day, I guess.
