I was thinking of changing to a more sporty exhaust what do you have on yours and what would you recomend?

I really want a bit louder exhaust and may be a few extra hp.

Does anyone use a 4 in to 1 branch manafold?

Regards James

You might have problems finding a manifold that will fit around the steering box on RHD 02's. Jaymic have a 4 into 1 branch manifold (but you probably knew this)

Edit/ Im running an Ansa exhaust - If you want loud, then go for it. Im a bit over it. Its too loud for my liking - and im what most people would classify over here as in the "hoon" age bracket where people like ridiculously loud exhausts :-P

James,

As previously mentioned an Ansa can be fitted easily. I had one fitted but the bore size isn't great so I made my own 2.5" system using Jetex parts.

I do still have my old Ansa system and if your interested in purchasing, PM me! I live in Cardiff

I have a Jaymic 4into1 on my rhd 02 and it flows really well, but the pipe off no1 cylinder goes right across the spark plugs. I have since found out that Fritz Bits in Somerset do a nice big bore manifold without the access probs.

There's plenty on options from the specialist Stainless Steel as well who will make up a system for you no problem. Also last but not least apparently the standard turbo system flows really well but I don't know if its any louder.

Regards

Mark

What are you asking for the Ansa product?

agree

Second or third that... I'm about to go back stock??? maybe - or try to find something quieter that won't completely restrict a well built slightly better than stock motor. But on the other hand, this is a DD car and having just installed a 5-speed, having a 3.45 rear end, and installing soundproofing all over, it's amazing how quiet the car can be on the highway.

I got lucky and got a defective Ansa (what else is new) from BavAuto so I have a credit. I'm not going to go Ansa again but I can't justify the $400 on a SS Supersprint either....

As part of a recent repair I had the center resonator replaced with a straight pipe on my tii. Looks stock. Sounds more throaty, IMO.

Stock or different rear muffler? Does the rear muffler really take away power? CD would probably say it's minimal but I really want to be able to have a quiet ride this winter as I drive up to go skiing at 4am and I'll sacrifice power in my current motor because it's a crap motor but when the new one is in I don't want to choke it up by running a header, ansa ctr res. and stock rear muff.

I thought I was being clear about maintaining the rear exhaust section when I wrote "looks stock."

:)

Anyway...

I had an Ansa rear muffler on my rebuilt '71 back in the mid-80s. The center resonator was left on, and the noise was just a bit too loud.

The deleted center section (resonator) and stock rear muffler is a good compromise between stock and modified, IMO. (Plus, it won't wake up the neighbors at 4 am.)

I can't address the back-pressure robbing differences to those who might poo-poo this deleted and obviously vital part of the engine intake/exhaust system.

It's a practical fix, not a performance modification.

I need an engine rebuild, anyway.

Delia,

Sorry to steal the thread but are you still interested in selling me a Tii Clock?

Darn, I would have been all over this a month ago. I had an obnoxiously loud scorpion muffler. Muffler dude threw it a way when I had him replace it. What an idiot.
