320 drums: Change the E brake cable?

The cable seems short, the two 10mm nuts are at the end of its adjustment and the E brake doesnt even go up 1/4 of the way before it stops. Has anybody run into this and have to change the cable? or does the pads need to get worn in, thats a lot of wearing to do if so

this was brought up a couple weeks ago. IIRC, the solution is to either replace e-cables with the 2002 Turbo variant, or, *ghast*, cut off about 1/4 inch off the end of the e-cable metal tubing under the car.

the Turbo parts apparently did not come with Turbo-style price, so that's the route i'd recommend.
