Lighting questions

Am planning, over the next several weeks or months, to install: driving lights, an after-market brake light (similar to the ones in JC Whitney) and a Euro-style rear fog light.

The lights are easy enough I'm guessing -- everything will be contained in the kit. What I need to figure out is how to activate them. I (as I'm sure others) have a knob on the dash marked "Foglights". Doesn't seem to be anything else besides the knob -- have pulled the instrument pod out and there's nothing behind it. Can I: find the switch on RealOEM; and wire in the front and rear lights together; or has anyone wired up separate switches (and have photos they'd care to share)?

Hope this made sense....

Thanks,

Dennis

Many years ago, on a '75 2002 I used to own, I salvaged a switch out of a wreck to replace the dummy "Foglights" knob, and used that switch to activate a relay for the front foglamps. This allowed me to eliminate the cheesy aftermarket toggle switch the PO had mounted on the console.

If memory serves correctly, it was a headlamp switch.

With a 2-position headlamp switch, you could even get creative to wire it up so that in one position only the front foglamps are activated, and in the second position both front and rear foglamps are activated.

If your kit does not include relays, I would strongly recommend you find some and use them.

Hope this helps.

No, it'll be a combination of functionality/ cosmetics...I like the look of the rear fog light and figure another light wouldn't hurt.
