I'm just curious who on here uses a 2002 as either a daily commuter or as a project car while in college/grad school. '73 2002tii for me (but at home in MD), Biomedical Engineering at U. Michigan.

My '70 2002 is my daily driver, before the spun bearing, that is. Year before last there were two other students here (Walla Walla College) with 2002's, a 74tii and a 76tii. The 74 is in a shop in Idaho last I heard, and the 76 got sold, so now it's just mine. Also, after seeing me mess around with mine, a close friend just bought two of them.

I'm a student at Universal Technical Institute. The 02 is my 2nd car. The other is a 1984 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel. I bought the benz for winter and daily driving because I was having too many problems with the 02. Now that I have the benz, my 02 has been very reliable. I tend to drive the 02 more these days, especially since the weather has been good.

I would suggest having a 2nd car. Now that I have the benz, I can appreciate the bimmer much more because I only drive it when I'm in the mood. The bimmer also helps me to appreciate all the creature comforts of the benz, so it works both ways.

Last but not least, having the 2nd cars lets me say: "Hey dad, I'm taking the benz, I hope you don't mind driving the bimmer on ALL the good days this week. Make sure you keep the combustion chambers clean and the trunk rearranged on the off ramps."

I'm in a college town (Chico, Ca) and we bought one of ours from a student, and almost a third just last month (from a nother student), but we dont have the room. I see many students comming and going in them, there's even one at the local community college driving an alpina.
