I believe I may have a found crank to convert an m20 2.5 to a 3 ltr or even a 3.2 if the block is machined. Does anyone know how I can ID this ?? I understand I would need bigger injectors as well as a fuel regulator.

Anyone in San Diego willing to help with the swap??????? I will be transfering all the suspension, front and rear next week.

This is going to go in my newly acquired golf 74 euro chassis that was for sale in this forum. VIN 3693800.

Thanks for the help!!

Here is a link to an article that outlines how to stroke the m20.

Hopefully, this will be helpful.

It will be Very helpful.

Has anyone done this conversion yet??

Many thanks powelli! I think for the time being, the euro shell will receive the tii motor from my 76 donor. That car will not pass smog so it may as welll serve some purpose. It is a shame because the body is very very straight with almost no rust. Only rust found is on the rear trunk lid and the pass door. A couple of dime sized spots around the trim What a shame. The 3.1 or 3.2 m20 will be built over time.

There are better things to come though!

S50 crank, which will require some machining to work with the M20. Also some custom pistons and an overbore. I really wouldnt bother going that big though. Just go with an eta crank and some custom pistons with a higher CR and you will get plenty of power for an 02.

I did some reading and i will probably end up using the crank from the 524 diesel motor. It is quoted as being able to handle high revs and seems to be the choice for the Alpina C2 cars. If it worked for Alpina I am sure it will work for me.

Thanks alot for the heads up!!

Evan,

That link is also very helpful. It will help with my very steep learning curve.

This conversion is the first time I do anything like this. I will take every bit of knowlege thrown my way. Are you in the Bay area SF??

Many Thanks!!

Hi Alonso,

I think it's great that you are planning to build a stroker. There are a few people here that have built the 2.8L stroker and Bob aka "iflytii" has a 2.8L with a turbo! I'd love to see the numbers on that when he has it dialed in his 02. I think the last I read, he was doing more tinkering with his e30 with the same 2.8L - Turbo set up though.

Yeah, I live in the Bay Area. You are down South no? Not sure if you saw Charley's (SP) sorry if I spelled his name wrong, post, but he's built a stroker and I'm sure he can shed a lot of insight for you.

Good luck on the conversion. For me the M20 has been the best mod I've done to my 02 and my motor is stock. I can't imagine having a 2.7L or more.
