Pertronix install on stock 76

Please clear confusion. Is the original resistor wire 1.8 ohms or .9 ohms?

Is a ballast resistor needed on a '76 or can a .9 ohm resistor be put in series with the original resistor wire?

Does Pertronix install require any wiring mods with original black coil?

Have read faq and archive, Zenon article leaves me wondering.

I don't know the answer to your first question, but there are no modifications necessary to work with the black coil....however, installing that grommet into the distributer is VERY frusturating....

I understand that you need a high output coil for the petronix. I have an Excell super sport coil with my pertonix. Some use the bosh red coil. check the faq.

It's 1.8 and you have the resistor wire in your 02. I would just use whats in there. I used my black coil for several months prior to figuring out that the 1.8 resistor required for the red coil was already there.
