Recommended Posts

what a difference these make. this is the 3rd time i thought i had the heater box the way i want it. turns out when i rebuilt it i installed some stuff backwards and the cables were too short on the drivers side. so i said screw it and ordered all new cable. its back together and as smooth as new. i just sprung for a new blower motor also so when that comes ill finally be done.

The connections at the ends of the cables are kind of funky. ( except the heater valve ) the cable is coiled into a barrel shape, these coils snap over posts on the linkage. I can't imagine using anything but the oe BMW cables on these.

The passenger side cable is a paired one that controls the heater valve and the flap. It sells for about $ 20, on the drivers side one is about $ 15.00, the other about $ 40.00.

how was your heater bowden cable?

i bought my oem heater valve/flap cable new, but it was just barely long enough to be fastened in at the heater valve

i would have liked it to be at least 1cm longer just so i know the thing wont slip out eventually

...After half-assing some of the flap bushings and breaking one of the cables, I had to tear the thing out for a second time. Now it works great and I'm looking forward to leaving that sumbitch in there for a long time. Good luck Steve!

by powering it up and moving the flaps inside to all positions.

I know of two new motors that the fan was too low on the shaft and interfered with the flap at a certain position.

If it is, take a small socket and tap the blade up on the shaft a bit
