K-fish return valve O ring

Anyone had to replace the O-ring on the fuel return valve on the back of the K-fish pump? I borrowed a valve complete with the ring to stop a leak, but that's a temporary fix The ETK and realoem don't show a separate part for this O-ring -- how do I find it?

trying to think about something besides my oil leak (see below),

This was discussed in the very early tii register newsletters. Known as "The Case of the $73 O-ring".

As far as I can remember, the "official" o-ring has never been available seperately. You had to purchase the complete releif valve to obtain the rubber ring.

Most of us out here have just gone and found an O-ring that fits and replace as needed. Go to www.mcmaster.com to find what you need and to learn more than what you ever wanted to know about o-rings and their various compositions.

Thanks Steve,

Yeah, I saw an earlier comment about an $82 O-ring! Your answer is more like what I was looking for, like "this Ford truck has the same diameter ring on the whatsit valve for $0.79". I have a McMaster catalog at home I'll check out.

Thanks,

Steve

$82? I wonder if it is the same o-ring? :^)

Maybe it was just an early attempt at Mobile Tradition to price out tii parts.

The McMaster book tells you which type of o-ring to use for resistance to UV and fuels. Buna, Butyl, neoprene this or that...I read it but never commited it to memory. I just keep the McMaster book around as my ready reference memory.

If the size is roughly 9mm ID and 14mm OD then I have a packet of 49 of them in Viton rubber (I think that is the stuff that resists fuel) from when I had the same leaking o-ring a couple years ago. (If that's not the size then I have no idea what these are...)

Anyway, if that matches the size and you still need one email me your address and I'll put a couple in the mail for you, gratis. And if anybody else needs one, just drop me an email...I have enough of these things to last 1,000 years I think.
