Dwell-Tach

Time to buy a new Dwell-Tach meter -- dropped the old POS too many times, and it finally took its last plunge this weekend, off of Hector's fender (amazing into how many pieces, cheap plastic shatters). Brand suggestions? I'd like a good one this time; tired of crappy tools. What's the "Snap On" of Dwell Tachs -- how about, for example, Snap-On's own model?

- worth about $55.00 retail. $250.00 goes to the dealer, then there's Snap-on's cut, which is not modest.

This is an Asian made meter with a Snap-on logo. It is durable and accurate but not reasonably priced.

Try Sears.

If you want to dump some bucks - get a Fluke 78.

For ANY meter, I'd buy a Fluke.

If I couldn't afford the Fluke, or if my meager usage didn't warrant that much of an expenditure, I'd just get a SunPro or other brand from Sears or the local Auto Parts store. Either way, a cheapie meter is better than no meter.

I have a Fluke DMM, but it doesn't have all the dwell and tach features.

I also have a cheapie SunPro unit, but it doesn't have AC voltage or amperage, so that is why I have both meters.
