A tip for the window locks.

I put my front windshield today and understood up front that the window locks were a pain.

I came up with a modified tool that worked really well. After trying a screwdriver ( useless ) a set of piston ring spreaders ( better but still way too hard ) . OK now I'm frustrated and will probably put a nice gash in the paint I loveingly put on. Stop, have lunch and think about it ya moron.

OK so you take a 5/16 craftsman ignition wrench ( the real small ones ) you want the box end side. They have a natural bend in it that can go either way but if you put the bend facing downward as you push it along it works well. Modify it by taking a drill bit that just fits in it and angle the drill along the shaft of the wrench to make the hole angled. Grind the sides down just to thin it out and smooth all the sharp edges. Take a rag a cut a strip and use some tape to make a " ball handle " on the end as you will have this stuck in the palm of you hand with good bit of force behind it.

You use it by putting the lock strip throughy the hole and pushing it along with the edge of your upper knuckles pressing it in underneath the wrench as you move along. I was able to do this with one hand a align the yet to be used strip with the other. I used the Meguires cockpit shine NXT as a lube ( slippery shit and it's good for the rubber ) . Took me about 5 min to do the whole window and a cuss word was never uttered ( unlike the other methods ) It really just slipped along and went into place.

I'll take some pics of my modified wrench and some in action when I do the back to clear up any questions you might have about what it looks like and how to use it.

Enjoy.
