Mirror question

Is it only mine, or do other's mirror refuse to move up/down (on the "X" axis)?

I'm concerned that if I grab it and really wrench on it, then one of several things will happen: it will rip loose of the base; it will never hold one position; or the thing will break.

Just getting tired of ducking my head to see what/who's behind me.

Thought crossed my mind -- gotta monkey around w/ the window so I guess that'll be the time to pull the thing and see what's going on.

On the underside of the base you will find a nut/washer/spring. Suggest a couple drops of penetrating oil to free up the pivot. Then adjust the nut for the right amount of friction.

Did a quick glance at lunch but probably missed it. Will look a bit closer.

Was thinking I'd need to pull the whole mirror -- lock, stock, and barrel - when I got into the door.

At the rear end of the mirror base, carefully peel back the black plastic flap of the base gasket, and you will see the set screw that holds the base to the door. Loosen that.
