POR 15

i used the tank sealing kit (about 80 bucks???) and it worked well but i sold the tank before i tried it in a car.

buy that kit and then get a quart or 2 of por 15 paint and a quart or gallon or metal prep to prep the metal before painting. i bought a gallon of metal prep and it works great for other things too. like prepping any metal before paint (por15 or not)

Flush it!

Karl got one when the carby was being put on and it makes a big difference. You might get scared seeing all the stuff that comes out of it though. Looks like baby poop!

I also used the por15 tank sealer kit and am very happy with the results. Plan on spending the better part of an afternoon. My tank didn't have any holes before, just some varnish and light scaling. I've run two full tanks through it and have had no problems. Here is a before and an after pic.

Cheers mate... Mine is in *ok* condition, I recently painted it all up black and get a new in tank pump, but I had a small weapy leak before I painted it and I planned on doing the inner POR treatment after hearing how good it was from Beaner7102...

Ash, I have no doubt there is some nasty stuff in there, I gave it a good tidy up before I painted it...

I'm planning on doing the gastank on the turbo with it. As to the POR15 paint, I've used it extensively on the 72 and when the prep is done correctly it does gives an excellent result. I did the interior and exterior floors in it. Don't do the prep right and it comes off in sheets. As the POR is not UV stabilized I also use their Chassis Black which also does a great job. I prefer to buy smaller qty's of the POR15. You have to be very thorough with storage and it doesn't like a lot of air in the can. It's expensive so I use the smaller cans and don't have to worry about ruining more with long term storage. I've also been very pleased with their Metal-Ready product. I painted the hood closure rod and the wiper linkage with it, again with very good results. It has to be stirred constantly however to keep everything in suspension.

I couldn't agree more. POR15 flows out very well and I swear the smallest can (4oz?) could cover a whole car. Buy the smallest cans, a little goes a long way and it's hard to stor.
