Quick quarter panel question

I have a 74 2002, and we found locally a guy parting a 73 tii. I was wondering if the quarters were pretty much the same. This is probably a stupid question, but i wanted to make sure before i purchased them. My quarters have been bondo'd to hell from the previous owner, and im looking for a fresh rustless start. We can weld, so thats not a problem, but i dont want to get them if the wheel wells are different. Let me know! :)

'67-'73 right 1/4 panel part# 41 35 1 837 038. '74-'76# 41 35 1 828 916. Install time 12.5 hours with bolt on parts removed. Price in 1984 $234.65.

I believe the only differance is reinforcment plates over the wheel openings. Tail light openings are the same. It should work but you'll loose some strength in a rear end crash. You'll also gain some rust resistance since those plates create rust spots.

Replacing 1/4s requires welds that can not be fully sealed on both sides. This creates rust potential at the rockers and other areas not accessible from the inside after install. Replace 1/4s when you must, repair when you can.

I dont need the whole quarter replaced, just the slight flair around the wheel well. The whole flair is "fabricated" with bondo, and is starting to crack and pit and just generally needs to be removed. We have body work experience, and we have a guy who is willing to practically give us the parts, we just didnt know if the 73 quarter around the wheel well was the same as a 74. So i take it the 73 is slightly different, but is the shape the same barring structural differences?
